When you polymorph or such, the character regains hit points as if having rested for a day .

So do you gain hp equal to your level, or your level times 1.5?

A character recovers 1 hit point per character level per day of rest. If the character undergoes complete bed rest (doing nothing for an entire day), the character recovers one and one half times the character's character level in hit points.

Its 1 per level. As the quote says, you get this for resting for that day. If complete bed rest was wanted by the spell, it would have been specially stated.

So what else did the character do for that one day equivalent? Since the "day" passed instantaneously, I don't see that a character could have possibly done anything other than rest. If they do nothing but rest, then they regain 1.5

If non-complete rest was wanted by the spell, it would have been specially stated.

I agree with Stalker. that is how we have always done it. Either way, as long as you are consistant with NPCs and PCs, it does not really matter. I believe you only get the benefit once a day as a druid or as many times as you cast the spell as a magic user.
