If all the players agree to it, and understand what they're getting into, I don't see a problem with it.

But, then it is very unlikely that the "leader" will really be unquestioned. If the Round Table is out template - well, just look at Lancelot! Is that a case where the "unquestioned leader" was followed in all particulars, never defied, always honored by and in control of his men?

If it's only a roleplay thing, then expect the followers to roleplay as followers. Followers have hteir own minds, and will go ahead an act like they have free will. They follow for their own reasons, not because you set it up that way. You're setting yourself up for certain types of inter-party friction. With the right group, this can be fun to play through. With the wrong group, it'd be a bad scene.
