An irritating thing about PDFs...

How many of you have had to rebuy PDFs? Today I was looking for a PDF I know I bought, and it doesn't seem to be on my hard drive or any of the CDs I burned. I did a clean-up of my hard drive not too long ago (it's my work computer, so I can't keep stuff like this around too long), and I fear I was a bonehead and deleted it. :( It's not that big of deal, since it was only $5-6 to begin with, but still, what a drag.

Just had to vent.

While I haven't had that happen yet, I would imagine that most of the PDF sellers keep record of who they sold to, and you could always ask about a new copy to the same e-mail address. Never hurts to ask. The worst thing they could say is "no"...

Chris (is just guessing... dunno if they keep records or not..)

If you bought it through RPGNow, there is a permenant record of your purchase. Send an email to the publisher and ask for a "complementary" copy so you can receive it again. Or send email to sage@rpgnow.com (from the email address rpgnow knows you) and ask for a resend.

I've actually had the same problem with actual books. I've got three copies of "Bimbos of the Death Sun" floating around somewhere... (Murder mystery set at a Con, a really great read. I didn't know whether to laugh untill I was blue or shoot myself in the head... :D )

The good thing about pdf's is that, if you buy from a good place like RPGNow, you can redownload it if you loose it.

AHH, good thing to know. I wonder if White Wolf does the same (that's where I originally got it) - I guess I'll email them and see what they say. Thanks!

Ditto that. Not the "Bimbos"-part, but the missing books.
So it's not so much "an irritating thing about PDFs", but "an irritating thing about loosing stuff", virtual or otherwise.

At least PDFs can be recovered. Missing books can't (most of the time - but only a few month ago I found my RIFTS-books again...).

Fantastic book!

The follow-up book, Highland Laddie Gone is also good, but for a different audience as the murder takes place at an American "Highland Games" event, with much pseudo-Scottishness ensuing.

When the sherrif asks, "Who would want to murder a man named Campbell?" the response is "Almost anyone here".

Ah, auld feuds carried with us! ;)
