um this was probably the wrong response to make. Statements like this are just going to start a flame war.

And BTW I too am a therapist and have seen my fair share of people who have their lives (and the lives of those whom they associate with) ruined by drugs. I don't find things like this tasteful.

I understand that Paizo needs to make a living...however I am dissapointed by this product.

Again, I have no problems whatsoever with jokes about drug use. I support legalizing all drugs.

That said, the point about 13 year olds above was good and that is what changed my mind oin this issue.

Can I ask why you didn't post this at Paizo, since that link is, in fact, a message board page in addition to being the item page?

Well, he was here...

More seriously, Paizo peeps do check ENworld relatively frequently.

This thread started off inflammatory. If people want to make inflammatory comments without a response, they should create a Web page, not post on a message board, especially if the original post is "I disagree with something, so your company shouldn't sell it to anyone."

The OP is not my parent. I have two. They do not need his help.

That's a good point, but I did not take into account that a high percentage of those who will peruse the Paizo site are minors, and that fact does make it an inappropriate product for Paizo.

This thread does have the capacity to degenerate quickly and has already started to.

I agree with the original poster's statement and I don't think it is inflammatory. It is a request for information and action from the original poster to a company in regards to a product the company sells on their website.

I think it is a valid and reasonable request.

Minors with credit cards?

The people buying from Paizo are adults. If there are adults who simply hand their credit cards to their children and turn them loose on the Internet, that's a much bigger issue than a stupid doll.

When ClubPenguin or Disney's ToonTown start to feature stoner characters, the OP has a point. Paizo sells products to people with credit cards.

And this thread belongs at their site, not here.

A valid and reasonable request would have started with posting on the Paizo site. If he has an account there, he could have instantly posted a message on that item's page.

I really couldn't care less about that doll.

Normally I wouldn't bother making an "I don't care" post but if the good folks at Paizo do read this thread I'd like them to see at least a couple of dissenting views.

I'm torn. I don't have a problem with drug jokes (despite frowning on drug usage -- I joke about a great many things I don't necessarily agree with). On the other hand, I don't think Paizo is really the venue for such a product. This isn't T-Shirt Hell, after all. The doll looks like complete crap, too.

I completely abstain from both drugs and booze, but I don't have anything against people that don't. Let others make their own decisions about such things.
I agree with you completely about these things. Here is where I am bothered by this:

Paizo is a company developing products for a game that has consistently relied on new, young gamers to continue to grow and nurture the hobby. If my son or daughter were browsing the Paizo site to read the boards, learn about new products, or find stuff on which to spend their allowance, then I don't want them to find stoner dolls.

You are right, others can make up their own minds, but a 14yr old doesn't have authority to make up their own mind on something like this. The parents are responsible, and in some respect, the owners of the game store that are catering to my child (as a small segment of their business), are responsible. I want my children to be able to browse the Paizo site. I don't want them to see these kinds of products when they do.

Well, I don't want to get into an argument, but let me point out that my 8 year old daughter, while not having her own credit card, has looked at the Paizo site with me on several occassions while browsing the Bella Sara TCG, aimed at girls her age.

Now, I, as a responsible parent, can't take her to the the Paizo site anymore.

As for posting this on the Paizo boards, the original poster may not have an account on Paizo's message boards.
