And another reason I hate the term "fluff" . . .

. . . is it makes me think of "fluffers". You know, from the, ahem, adult film industry.

Please retire this dreadful term. We should speak of "Crunch" and "Flavor", which at least keeps the "taste" metaphor consistent. But dear gods, how I hate the term "fluff."

just because you did not make the connection, doesn't mean others did not.

I suggest we use the Scandinavian-sounding "flööf" instead. I imagine it's like "flue" with an f on the end. It's much more fun to say.

What is this "Fluffers" you speak of?

I guess I'll use Google Image Search to.....

AIIIEEEEE! My Eyes, my poor, poor eyes.....

:D

I knew somebody once who worked at a Matress store & one of his duties was to make sure all the pillows got fixed after various people tested out mattress on the displays.

He was a professional Fluffer. Not the best thing to put on a resume. (Unless in So-Cal and the heart of Silicone Valley-not the micro-chips).

Did you say that "crunch" is a taste?

Fluff is more consistent with crunch than flavor is. Fluff and crunch describe textures of food, if that's the way you're looking at it.

How does it taste?
Crunchy.
...Okay...

When I studied remedial massage, one the tutors told a class that she was developing a new massage technique called "fluffing". In response to the ripple of stifled laughs across the room, she insisted that all masseurs should learn to fluff, for the benefit of their clients. Ye gods.
