Except that the Cimmerians were Caucasians, not Indo-Europeans.

Mind you, dialogue in PIE would be cool

Generally, Indo-European describes a language group. The Indo-European language group mostly consists of the various European languages.

What kind of accent should Conan (of Cimmeria) have if his culture is Celtic?

jh

For me, Austrian will always fit best. That's due to Arnold of course.

Some have suggested a Scottish accent and that will never feel right for me...just think of Tim the Enchanter or the skit where the aliens were turning everybody into Scots.

So if we're going for one of the major remaining "Celtic" accents (and let's face it who actually cares about the Manx, Bretons and Cornish), you have to ask yourself, when he's not swinging a sword and saying "By Crom!!", do you see Conan ...

... drinking Guiness and saying "Begorrah!"

... eating cheese on toast, singing in a male voice choir and saying "There's lovely"

... or drinking several pints of heavy followed by whisky chasers, saying "Crikey jings!" and "See you, Jimmy" and staring a fight in an empty room?

Dude, I have no comments on your post, but I do on your name. I cracked up when I read it. Thanks for the laugh. :D :p

In The New Travellers Almanac by Alan Moore it says, and I quote:

"The museums of Paris contain many relics from much earlier times such as the Amran period, when France was Aquilonia and was ruled briefly by a Swedish warrior-king named Amra, though some suggest this was a nickname meaning "lion" or "lionheart."

As we all know Amra is one of Conan's aliases. Therefore Conan should be played with a Swedish accent. ;)
