Based on the treasure tables and many of the classic modules, I don't know if it was that rare.

But the beauty of it is that it is entirely up to the DM...as it should be...need a wand of magic missiles, look what you find.

Speaking of which, why haven't they found a wand of magic missiles yet?

Assuming that the group finds a magic item in a treasure, there's only a 5% chance of the magic item being a rod, staff, or wand, and then only a 5% chance of it being a wand of magic missiles. It just hasn't happened. Mind you, the campaign has been fairly light on magic items.

The group *has* picked up a vorpal sword, though.
