And it comes full circle....

Here's an idea for all you ENorlders out there: Lets make a community created world! Sound familiar yet? No? Well, the olde tymers might remember that ENWorld started as an effort by the community of Eric Noah's sight to create a world (hence ENWorld). The Daemonforge (sp?) setting appears to have compleatly dissapeared off the map, mainly due to loss of interest from its creators, the community. So I propose we start from scratch! With everything the community here at ENWorld wants to integrate from all the d20 sources now available!
First, I propose that we remove the standard races. Discuss!

I'd be very, very interested. Drop me an e-mail, perhaps. We can correspond that way for a while until we get something tasty thought up as a base.

I LOVE stuff like this.

And I can tell you a bit about something I "ran" called Creation.

So, Dave, e-mail this Dave! :D

I would recommend taking the idea to plots and places and starting to work on something there. If/when you get to the point that a separrate forum would be needed to contain what you're working on, then you could petition Morrus for a forum for your world.

Fan the flames; will this campaign world have a schtick to revolve around, or will it be in essence a generic setting?

Schticks being:
  • It's all water - Shark World (See Crothian)
  • There's no water - Athas
  • High Magic - FR
  • Low Magic - Um ... Kingdoms of Kalamar?
  • Steamtech - Iron Kingdoms
  • Lowtech - Slaine
  • Wild Dimensions! - Planescape
  • Non European ... - Nyambe (African Adventures)
  • Etc

Personally, while I think a schtick is self-limiting - if people don't like it, then the entire setting won't appeal at all;, it's still better then something generic which could be easy to use for everybody but has no appeal. Because, for the most part, a standard D&D campaign world is generic.

Whatever the schtick may (or may not be), I'd advocate lots of politics, though. Can't get enough of that.

I'm interested too.

For the religions:
I'll keep also the clericts without deity, allowed in the PHB but not in FR, as I like the idea.

We'll go for multiple small pantheons (for the various races/cultures + some general deities) or one unified?

I wold like very much to add something like the Faerie plane (described in MotP): a plane that mirrors the material plane but with some differences like:
- different time flow (for example every hour there is one day on the material plane)
- there is no day/night cicle (maybe)
- the creatures who live there are more powerful (they could have some half-celestial, half-fiend or similar templates)
Then there should be many permanent portals scattered through the world that allow you to travel beween the two planes, but only under some circumstances (some particular years, hours, moon phases, or other keys)
(A bit like the Shadow World in the Zelda computer game)

How about psionics ?
- None or rare (FR)
- Normal (slightly rare) GreyHawk
- Common (?)

For the character races I'll try to have all ECL +0 races so that there should be all available to the 1st level PCs

How about a winged race ?
I tried once a winged elf, with
flight speed: 50 ft (average)
+2 Dex, -4 Con
can fly only in light armor and cannot use large weapons while flying
+2 spot, listen and search (no auto secret door search)
needs custom armor
fav class: wizard ? or maybe bard ?
-2 to saves against fire
proficient in shortbow & shortsword (maybe)
