[ANGEL] 1/21/04 This episode is cool and nifty.

Putting the whole thing in spoiler tags because I'm rambling...

Doyle? Hoo boy! I dropped my jaw when Lindsey used that alias and story. I can't wait until Angel and Spike have a conversation that mentions this. :D

Call me inane but I loved the Dream sequence where Fred and the Bear were hollowing Angel out. :) It made perfect sense and no sense at the same time, just like a good dream sequence should.

Angel is DEFINITELY feeling the stress of Wolfram & Hart; this episode proves that he does know what the job is doing to him. Unfortunately, I think he feels too obligated to let go; if you control a great evil, and minimize the harm it can do, but it destroys you, what do you do? Do you let it go, and risk someone VERY evil and nasty regaining control? Do you sacrifice yourself, and possibly become that evil and nasty eventually?

In the end, Spike, as always, had the answer. "Places like that don't change." In the end, it changes you, or you let it go, and it will commit evil anyway. It doesn't matter whether Angel and friends are running the show or not - Wolfram and Hart will be Wolfram and Hart in the end.

W&H has an ORBITAL MICROWAVE CANNON?!?!?! HOLY CRAP!

I loved the part where Spike was rewarded for being the good boy, and Angel goes back to Numero Cinco's mail carrying job.

That's my thoughts.

My thoughts -

What Spike always wanted was to be better than Angel and where Angel has gone Spike soon follows. Call it a personality issue but Spike thinks being noble and good don't matter and that the end would be the same. Maybe he will be right but seeing both sides is very interesting, I think that is Spikes job. I have missed some of the shows and don't know all that is going on but I see the Angel saga: good vs evil, the Spike saga: bad vs evil, and the Linsey saga: evil vs all.

But is Linsey evil? I thought he was redeemed (if possible)?

Both Spike and Linsey could be Angel in another form, bad and human, which is plot is Angel vs dark side and human side.

er, maybe we should just start a spoiler thread?

THESE COULD BE SPOILERS!

I was disapointed in them letting eve go at the end... I mean, Are they really that gullible that she can throw out some dumb bluff and they'll just sit like kicked puppies and let her go? Dumb dumb dumb... either he shouldn't have remembered, or there should have been consequences, but that was just a lame way to stretch out the conflict. Now more lame stretching will ensue as spike doesn't tell anyone, including fred, about who told him to save angel... or maybe not. I will remain optimisticly cynical. ;)

Everybody sing along South Park Style!

Spike falls for Lindsey's really bad acting,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
They had unintelligible dialogue because of the loud background music,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
Nobody noticed that Angel was gone,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
Gunn and Wes track down Spike and don't ask how he got that apartment,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
Eve sneaks a boxful of demons right through security,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
Angel figures out Eve's plan then lets her go,
DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.
Eve and Lindsey smart smart smart,
Angel and Company Dumb.

Loved the episode. Peace out!

more thoughts...

Linsey is building the anti-Angel gang, he is Doyle who was replaced by Wes (see show where Cordy gets aspect of demon - Wes is a one arm man), Spike is Angel, Eve is Cordy...now we need a Gunn and Fred. Linsey could not really out smart and control Angel but Spike, mmmmmm.

Everyone is harping on the fact that they let Eve go at the end of the episode, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. They've been suspicious of her since the beginning. She isn't part of their little circle, so they automatically blame her when something suspicious happens to them in the office. This is the point she makes to them as she walks into the elevator at the end of the episode. The only proof they have, as far as they know, is that Angel recognized her earrings in an hallucination he was having and Fred says she's never seen the earrings before either. It's enough to convince themselves, perhaps, but anywhere else that's pretty flimsy evidence. In addition, she is the liaison to the Senior Partners. No matter how much they dislike her, that's not someone they can screw with lightly.

If Eve had been smarter, she'd have changed her clothes (and earrings, I suppose) for her visit to Angel's room only. That way no one else would be in any position to believe Angel based on any evidence.

I'm not too worried about how Eve brought the demon thingies into the building...if anyone can get around W&H's protections, it'd be her.

Overall I enjoyed the episode. It may not have been the strongest one, but it was pretty good. The dream sequences were great.

Oh, and I love Hand of Evil's theory about a new team Angel. We'll just have to wait and see if it's true or not.

...And I just realized how apropos Hand of Evil's handle is to this discussion :).

I liked it better than last week's episode, but that's not saying too much; it still doesn't hold a candle for me to previous seasons of Angel.

I loved Spike's speech to the girl he saved, though: that's up there with his narration of Angel's saving a girl in Season 1 as an all-time great Spike moment.

small spoilers ahead, you have been warned:...........

I thought the ep was pretty good, not great, but good.

Don't know if I was misled or if it was a subtle point, but I was under the impression that Angel was in his apartment, not W&H offices for most of the episode. Makes more sense that way, at least as far as Eve not having to sneak any demons past security. (doubt it would be a problem for her though)

I don't think Angel has a bed at the company anyway, and it makes the whole "Angel isn't around" thing plausible. If he had been in the building, they could have just consulted him on stuff (like the rune covered stone).

Speaking of which, I liked one of the undercurrents of the episode, that Angel isn't of use any more. If he's just the head of some company, most of his unique talents go to waste. Any normal person with an MBA (and occult leanings) could probably do his job - and Wes and Gunn look like they are realizing this a bit. It is a theme that they have touched on before in the show, and it may give Angel a kick in the pants when he realizes that he has distanced himself from the 'good fight' (while awake - his dream sequences showed that his subconscious knows already). That more than anything else may lead him to leave W&H.
