Animal companion question

The druid IMC is currently searching for a second animal companion. He is giong to be 3rd level and already has a wolf befriended (quite an excellent animal companion in this game). The party is currently traveling in the Wood of Sharp Teeth (the PC's home region) in the world of Faerun.

Does anyone know statistics for the randomness of encountering a SECOND wolf in this situation?

How would the first wolf react?

The randomnes is entirely up to you. Lone wolves are relatively rare in any area they normally inhabit.

The first wolf would probably regard the druid as his alpha, and would expect the alpha to put the newcomer in his place. The animal friendship spell would do. Then the old and new wolves would probably fight for dominance, typical pack mentality.
