Animal Cults... (the good and the bad...)

Goats might be a good choice for a cult worshipping herbivores. Some of them look outright scary - no wonder they're the template for satanic images.

Pigs could also be a quite nasty choice.

Apart from those I would probably go with some kind of insect, e.g. mantis.

Try a Jacob's Sheep, sometime...

any of you played FALLOUT 3? :)
one character you meet is the "Antagonizer", a women, who as a kid, saw her family killed by giant ants, now she leads/controls giant ants, wanting to wipe out human civilization and replace it with ants.

One of the character concepts tossed about in discussion during last years RPG Superstar contest at Paizo was a completely insane dwarf that had killed a Giant Ant Queen, and made armor out of her carapace. Through some inexplicable circumstance, the other ants in the colony now think of him as their 'queen' and he has a small army of giant ants under his control.

Not really a cult, and not something that's gonna last long (as the colony slowly dies off with no replacements in sight), but a freaky encounter nonetheless.
