Animal Friendship question

Hmmm.... any ideas about how a druid can fake out a rival druid, and become her 'companion' to spy on her?

It's for a 1-player game I'm running (which is hard in of itself)

Sneak up at night, charm and/or kill an existing animal friend of his, wildshape into its duplicate and take its place.

i.e. replace an existing animal friend.

Cheers

Nature sense

Don't forget that a druid should be able to sense if an animal is a real animal, shapechanged, etc. Maybe not automatically, but with their nature sense ability, knowledge (nature), etc. I would say it would be really hard to fool a druid this way.

In the case of polymorph, I might require a disguise check; a wizard turning into a wolf might fool a farmer, but a druid might think "hey, that's an Eastern Lowland wolf...what the heck's it doing in this part of the world...and it's certainly not acting like a wolf should....

However another Druid would know exaxtly what sort of wolf would be appropriate and polymorph into that type. And Another Druid would know exactly how to act like a Wolf.

Don't forget that the Druids shapechange ability gives it +10 on diguese checks to blend in as that type of animal.

I would also give a +2 or +4 competence bonus depending on the amount of knowledge nature the "hiding" druid has.

After all, while the Druid may look like the animal in question, she may not ACT like it - thus causeing the opposed rolls.

Remember also that a Druid's type doesn't change when wildshaped. So Animal Friendship wouldn't work in the first place. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Druids can identify natural animals and plants, so they'd know immediately the different between an animal and a Druid in animal form.
