Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon? (Pt 2)

sure, that can be #1 for you if you like. :) i like those weirdos for some reason.
Okay, then the Eater of Knowledge two pages further on is my #2.

And the Molian Heart from Return to the Tomb of Horrors is #3 .

and if anyone wants to add brief descriptions like Shade did, that will help with the vote-getting, as well as giving some input for writing the query if they make it that far. :)
I'll do those once I've decided on #4 and #5 :).

actually, i'm going to have to veto the eater of knowledge for one simple reason: we've already submitted it twice. :) once as a "bonus" (unused) monster with the Monsters of the Mind submission, and again just now when we re-sent all the unused MotM critters along with our most recent Creature Catalog article submission. :)

as for the moilian heart, you might want to check up on that because i thought something moilian appeared in Libris Mortis...?

Hmmmm, One hit wonders can be truly fun.

I can provide with a few, but first, I would like to third the nomination of the Demarux. They are wierd, but I like them too.

Monitor (from Spelljammer MC9)
Thrax (Dark Sun, Terrors of the Desert)
Lich's Blood (Dragon #238)
Masgai (Dragon 244)
Sapromnemes [Fungal Ghosts] (Dragon 267)

That and whatever Snarf is from Snarf Quest....

I *love* Snarf quest

Heh heh. Oops. Well, it's a cool creature :).

The Molian Zombie appears in Libris Mortis as the Bleakborn, but I don't think the Molian Heart has appear anywhere else?

I'm thinking maybe the Mortiss from Monstrous Compendium Spelljammer Appendix (MC7) might be #4 (or a replacement #2). Although these hull-eating, delusion-inducing, coral-like colonies were originally designed to inhabit spelljamming ships, I think they could probably be adapted to be some sort of swarm that inhabits Eberron's sky ships, or even water-going craft. Hmmm... or maybe, they'd make a better hazard.

Um. I've just noticed that both the Clockwork Swordsman and the Utukku also appeared in Dungeon #62 (p66-67). Having said that, I still think that both of them would be great candidates for a proposal.

Would that be as abbreviated stat blocks or full-blown stats? Not sure if it matters anyway. :)

I really should just vote for that - even if it has got an extra 's' :D

A full page each. The Utukku's entry seems indentical to the one in the SCMC, including the picture. The Clockword Swordsman's entry is closer to the SCMC entry than Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Four entry, but not quite the same, and without a picture.

Ooh. Are the three critters from Up the Garden Path (ST1) possibilities? (That's the IffanbutT, Shadow Wolves and the Snap Dragon.) It would be quite hard to find more obscure creatures than those...

I'm going to allow them. i'm a pushover. ;) besides, the "one book only" is more of a guideline that a rule of strict adherense. i'm trying to aim for stuff that hasn't been seen by most folks or was easily overlooked the first time it showed up. i'd certainly prefer if the majority of creatures we use didn't have full stat blocks in more than one book.

OK, was that a TSR module? i'm not immediately familiar with it.
