Another few questions on weapons

First off excuse my constant inquisition, just slowly making my way through the handbook. First off must you take a weapon proficiency or focus on an exact weapon or an overarching proficiency. Like bows means you can use short bows and long bows and composite bows and mighty composites. Second if one takes exotic WP bastard sword can they then use it as a one handed sword? Lastly on an Urshog if you use the spear head as off hand but then you stop a charge with it is it considered primary or off hand? Oh and Weapon finesse just replace attack rolls, you still get strength modifier for damage, right?

All classes are proficient with certain weapons. Fighters know all simple and all martial while the rogue knows a specific list. Being an Elf will add certain weapons to your list assuming the class doesn't already offer those weapons.

Taking a weapon feat (either Martial Weapon or Exotic Weapon) will grant you the use of a single weapon (unless it's the simple weapon feat which grants all simple weapons).

Taking Exotic Weapon Bastard sword allows you to use it as either a one or 2 handed weapon.

Readying against a charge is a standard action, so it's the only thing your going to be doing (besides move like action). So, it's a normal attack roll. No need to worry about off hand.

Even with Weapon Finees you add strength bonus as damage.

I think that's all your questions. I hope I got those right. :D

k thanks

So a long bow and a short bow are different focues or specializations. What about composite and mighty longbows? Are those covered by longbows?

Short bow and long are different. In Sword and Fist it suggests that DM can allow composite and non composite weapon focuses to apply to each. I do that and also with specialization.

Being profcient with a composite longbow is all you need for the mighty versions. Same with WF and WS.

As for the Urgosh, it is a double weapon which means it can be used as though it is two weapons, or as one large weapon. Meaning this, when your using it to set against a charge, you attack without penalty and you get to apply 1.5x your str bonus to the damage.

At least this is as I understand it.
