Another HUGE FFG 5-day sale.

Any advice on what Midnight products to pick up and what to avoid? I've already learned that Against the Shadow (Player's Guide) is included/updated in Midnight: 2nd Edition. I'm thinking of picking up:

Midnight: 2nd Edition
Midnight: Sorcery & Shadow
Midnight: Steel & Shadow
Midnight: Minions of Shadow
Midnight: Under the Shadow

Thanks in advance!

Also thinking of getting:

Dawnforge: Campaign Setting
Dawnforge: Age of Legends
Dawnforge: Path of Legend

Likewise, I am curious about Midnight, but I can't tell which books are 2nd ed Midnight and which are 1st ed. Likewise, which of the regional books are best? How are the "crunch" books?

Inquiring minds and all.

I might be able to help you on that bit. I'm not sure how many books have been released since Midnight 2nd ed., but it is given the number MN11. The other books have an MN#, too, so I assume tha thet books MN10 and below came before Midnight 2nd ed. while those labled MN12 and above came after Midnight 2nd ed.

So this might help:

MN01 Midnight (1st Edition)

MN02 Midnight: Against the Shadow
MN04 Midnight: Minions of Shadow
MN05 Midnight: City of Shadow
MN06 Midnight: Sorcery and Shadow
MN07 Midnight: Under the Shadow
MN08 Midnight: Forge of Shadow
MN09 Midnight: Fury of Shadow
MN10 Midnight: Steel and Shadow

MN11 Midnight: 2nd Edition

MN12 Midnight: Heart of Shadow
MN13 Midnight: Star and Shadow
MN14 Midnight: Hammer and Shadow
MN15 Midnight: Legends of Shadow
MN16 Midnight: Hand of Shadow
MN17 Midnight: Destiny and Shadow

I wouldn't mind some feedback on this stuff myself!

the midnight PDFs are still too expensive for my taste.

Agreed. I think the printed supplements might even end up being slightly cheaper...regardless of the rather inflated shipping costs. The core book is definitely much cheaper than the pdf.

I wouldn't worry too much about 1st vs. 2nd Ed. Midnight. All the books are useful. I'm running game using the 2nd Ed. rulebook, and the only book that isn't much use is Against the Shadow. All the others still work fine.

In fact a few of those, such as Steel and Shadow, may in fact be 2nd Ed. I'm not sure, but I think it is.

The 2nd Ed. rulebook was a big improvement over 1st Ed. It's not that the rules changed significantly....but the book is much better organized, and the classes work better.

I've bought a lot of Midnight, though I've never played/ run any. The books are usually a good value and the world is a fun read, IMO.

This sale just makes it more of a value, and lets me convince myself I need a boxed set. :)
