Another Judge speaks out

Here's to you Crothian, it's thankless and difficult, hopefully the thank yous and smiles of happy attendees at GC will make it at least somewhat worth the effort.

Chris, as one of those who was on the receiving end of your packages, let me say THANKS!

I'm very sorry to hear about your Mom, I hope that everything goes as well as possible for her and she recovers quickly. Tell her one of your fellow judges really appreciates the time and effort you put into things again this year, and that she has a great son! Parents always like to hear that they have good kids, and maybe that will help bring a smile to her as she is recovering.

See you in a few short weeks!

Thanks, Crothian. Very sorry to hear about your sad news, but thank you for sticking with it and helping to make this place and the awards great.

Thanks to the other judges too.

Thanks for all of your efforts, Crothian, as well as to the rest of the judges! :D

I'm looking forward to the announcements tomorrow to see where we stood, and would definitely LOVE to get some feedback from the judging panel about what worked and didn't work with DWP's submissions.

Crothian, hope your mom gets well soon. Thanks for all the work on the Ennies awards, I can see why I've never wanted to even stand as a judge with all that material to get through.

Chris, thanks for all of your hard efforts and the thoughts of the Dog House Gang are with you and your family. I've been through the same thing with my mom twice, and both times she has come through it; so chin up.

I'll see if I can't get some of that (in)famous Dog House mezcal sent your way...mezcal always helps. Okay, maybe it doesn't always help, but it never hurts. Well, that's not entirely true either...errr, never mind!

Chris, my hope and prayers to your mom and family; cancer is hell on a family, speaking from personal experience, and I hope that it's nothing but good news from here.

And as with Mark, Jeff, and the rest; thank you for what you've done, from one forum member to another.

Thanks Crothian. I think many of the posters here know what a daunting task it is, and to hear it from the judges is no real surprise to me. After hearing about what you go through in terms of what you have to read in the amount of time you are given I know it has to be a difficult task.

Thanks for doing it and being dedicated even in a moment of personal strife. I am terribly sorry to hear about your mother. As someone who watched his mother battle illness at an early age I empathize.

I hope things go better in the coming months, for you and your family.

Take Care,
Shay

It seems as though we can't go a year without a judge having some major turmoil in their lives during the evaluation period.

Crothian did a fabulous job, even to the point of storing the 6th lot of books in his apartment until I could get to Columbus and pick them up... and then he got stuck with Hound and I staying at his apartment!

The job of judge is demanding.

The job of submissions coordinator, gruelling, and not one I envy.

Thank you, Chris!
