Some of us from central Virginia might be interested in coming too. Don't forget us.

Mirthcard, that might work -- but right now, I'm feeling kind of busy, what with playing in one weekly game and running another, as well as other projects in my life. But both gaming groups look like they're going to disappear in January (stupid people graduating from college and moving far away!), so perhaps next year I'll have more time to do something like that. If so, we should definitely check with the Asheville Gaming Society or whatever they're called.

I'm not sure, but that could be against you in a court of law. :p

'S Okay: She's used to being stalked by him. Plus, I've seen her smack him around, so she can handle herself. :D

Sounds good, Daniel. I've been looking for work since I closed my business in March and it just so happens that I'm up for four different positions right now, so things may get really busy for me in the near future too (crosses fingers).

I'm still up for a once a month game if you're interested. Feel free to email me: mirthcard@yahoo.com and I can send you my digits.

I haven't heard of the Asheville Gaming Society, what's that?

Keep me posted,

Jay

Asheville Gaming Society -- I don't have details on it, but I think they're a UNCA group. If you go up to Pasttimes (take Merrimon Avenue way North of town, about half a mile past the Food Lion in a teeny strip mall on your right), the folks there can tell you about it.

Howdy gang. I just happened to notice this post floating around and figured I'd better pop in and post, if for no other reason, to get subscribed to it.

From where I'm sitting right now, I really like the "tri-annual" concept (I'm sure we can come up with a clever way to work tri-annual and Triangle area into a witty name for the next Game Day thread title: "If you missed the last NC Game Day, Tri-Tri again!").

We've had such a good time at the last two that it is tempting to schedule another one ASAP. But I agree that November is probably not a great logistical choice. At the same time, I really don't want to wait until next March for the next one.

So at this point, how about we tentatively go with late January, with the prospect that we will have another in late-April/early-May and another after that maybe in September or October (giving a bit more time to recover from GenCon)? Sound good?

One limiting condition is that, if we want to continue using the Talley Student Center as our venue, then we have to keep the NCGD's within the academic school year. That's why I was suggesting perhaps late April rather than smack in the middle of May.

Our next step is to get NCSUCodeMonkey to look into the schedule for Talley in January and see what we can get in terms of space. On that score, I'll say that we probably don't need as much space as we had for NCGDI (The Walnut Room, The Blue Room and one more) but we should at least try and secure the Walnut Room or something of similar size. We fit ok into the Blue Room at NCGDII, but just barely.

If Code Monkey doesn't spot this thread in the next day or so, I'll just e-mail him. Once we've secured the space, we can just relax until a couple of months before Game Day at which point we'll open the official scheduling thread and let things go from there. Based on the last two, it seems that two months is just about the perfect amount of time to get things scheduled without stretching it out for an eternity.

How's that sound?

I was actually thinking that myself. Mid-September would be good for the fall game, IMO. And as much as I would love to do it again soon, late January would probably fit in people's schedules better.

If for no other reason than I left the last Game Day thinking, "That was so much fun! Why doesn't everybody do it? Why aren't there tv shows and movies about it? Why don't we do this every week?" I concur with the suggestion to hold NC Game Day three times a year.

Despite Rel's 'Tri-Tri again' pun! Ouch! ;)

Cool. I'm familiar with Pastimes (used to have a comic book reserve account with them at their old place near UNCA), but I've only been to their spot in Weaverville once, right after they moved out there.

Speaking of which, the wife, kid and I were down having dinner with a bunch of friends at Hannah Flannagan's tonight and I noticed that a new gaming/comic shop is opening in Sept. on Broadway a couple of doors down from where Be Here Now used to be. It's gonna be called The Sword & The Grail. Know anything about it?

I'll keep in touch,

Jay
