Anti Caster Melee tactics

I like to use Boots of the Battle Charger (MIC) against spellcasters. Twice a day, you can charge as a standard action up to your base movement. Clever characters can use this to launch attacks a DM doesn't see coming. I laid out an evil cleric in one hit using this tactic. Add in a Dex-boosting item and you can charge across a field of broken glass and through friends.

What the heck did you hit the cleric with to lay him out in 1 hit? Clerics usually have decent HP.
