Anti-Tumbling Feats

First Post
Hey all,

I think that somwhere in the vloumes of feats and such out there I read something about a feat that allows one to make attacks of opportunity even when they would otherwise not be allowed.

While I might be mistaken here if you all could help me find some way to thwart the amazing bouncing rouge it'd be appreciated.

Also to stave off all of the "why deny an architype his advantage relpies" I only want to do it like once or twice. I think that 80-90% of the time he should be able to do it unhampered but I think its reasonable for especially high level fighters to have some method of stoping the bouncing ball types in their feat bag.

I know I could change the rules to add the BAB ans such and will in my next game but I wont change a rule mid game. Gives to much perception of the "out to get someone syndrome".

Anyway, I am open for most d20 stuff so don't worry about the "offical" products.

Thanks all, for the help or interest.

Here you go. From a Netbook. I have used this and it seems well balanced as long as you don't give it to every NPC. Like you, I like to let the rogue have his way most of the time, he is, after all, exceptional in that arena. But I still like to whip out the occasional suprise. The key is holding all your AoOs, keeps it from being too powerful.

CREATE OPPORTUNITY [General: Offense]
Just when you thought you were as slippery as slippery can be, here comes somebody just a little bit quicker.
Prerequisite: Dex 15+, Combat Reflexes, Base attack bonus +3 or higher
Benefit: In lieu of ALL your attacks of opportunity for one round, you may make a single attack of opportunity against a target who moves more than 5' and moves through your threatened area in a manner that does not normally provoke an attack of opportunity.
Normal: Tumbling successfully does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Spring attack does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the attacker's target. You get no attacks of opportunity against a target with at least 50% cover.
Notes: If you have made even a single attack of opportunity since your last action, you may not use this feat, since you can no longer give up ALL attacks of opportunity. If the target has the feat Mobility, the mobility bonus to AC still applies.

Not exactly what you want... The Alliance merchant prestige class in the KoK PG has a nice Outsneak ability that gives you a AoO each time someone tries to sneak attack you... Ah well, and of course you're immune to sneak attacks.

The bouncing rouge can often be countered by the tripping lipstick or the readied action of some solid foundation. Or by concealer that is hiding in plain sight.

I managed to get my AoO versus a tumbler recently in an unexpected way.

I readied an action to attack the tumbler if they moved past. Knowing that they liked to tumble, I included in my readied action a movement of 5' towards the side that I thought the tumbler would pass through. Sure enough, the tumbler went through my new square as I adjusted into his path. As a result, I got an attack on the tumbler from the readied action and the tumbler had to make a higher DC tumble check for tumbling through my square (which he failed). Two attacks at full attack bonus.

Just something to consider if you decide to ready an action against a tumbler ...

Stand Still and Large and In Charge come to mind.

... they do?

Both of those feats only work if the opponent provokes an AoO.

Since a tumbling rogue doesn't provoke an AoO, the feats don't do much...

Hit him with a tanglefoot bag (3.0)

Even in 3.5, halving movement in combat is no small hindrance to a lightly armoured, low hit point target.

In 3.5e if you hit them, he'll likely make his Reflex save, BUT he still has -4 Dex, -2 to hit (potentially -4 to hit if he uses Finesse), and half move. And that is if he makes the save!
