Any D&D to DSA conversions out there?

I recently picked up the English edition of DSA4 and noticed that both spells and the bestiary are a bit thin. Does anybody have tips (or links to tips) on converting spells or beasts from any edition of D&D for use with the DSA4 rules? At present, my German is really rough. I'm actually learning the language just for DSA, so while German-language supplements aren't out of the question, for the present I'd prefer tips and such to be posted in English, if at all possible. As always, thanks in advance!

"Das Schwarze Auge, 4te Edition" - The Dark Eye, 4th edition.

@jdrakeh: While I dislike DSA a lot, I'm a German, so if you have questions concerning German stuff, I would help (as in translating into either direction, it may beat Babelfish), time permitting.

And AFAIK, there are other German posters here, so I think if you're asking for help concerning the language, you'll get responses.

Also, feel free to PM me, if this thread gets lost somewhere on page 2+.

Cheers, LT.

Das Schwarze Auge -- The Dark Eye. It's the powerhouse of German fantasy RPGs and had outsold D&D there at least up until the release of D&D 3x (and, according to some, it again became dominant when 3.5 was announced).

I have DSA from back when I reviewed it, but since I've never played it, I'm no longer familiar enough with it to give you conversion ideas. What I do remember is that the stats and task resolution were quite different.

It's roll-under versus relevant ability rating, with talent ratings being used to diminish base die results on a 1:1 basis. For example, you want to roll under your STR rating of 15 but, you eat it, and roll a 19. Luckily, you have an associated talent with a rating of 6. You can spend up to 6 points to modify your die result, ratcheting it down. And, yeah, I'm working from memory, so some of the terminology is a bit off ;)

[Edit: In many ways, it's kind of like AD&D with task-specific Action Points.]

I never heard of any conversions. I think the power curve doesn't quite match. With more than 100 published adventures for DSA, there doesn't seem a need for conversions, either.

Keep also in mind that nearly all DSA players use more or less the same world, depending on the edition.

It is somewhat difficult to get DSA modules in the US -- almost no place in the states stocks the German-language modules. Same deal with Drakar och Demoner (though these are Swedish-language modules). That is why I'm looking for conversion notes. It's either that or, you know, move to Europe. And moving to Europe for a RPG is crazy, right? ;)
