Any Good FLGSes in Kansas City?

Given that I'm looking for a group and 4e's coming up, I'd like to pick the brains of the ENWorldies and find out if there are any good FLGSes in town that I should know about, but particularly if they offer ample playing space and fairly regular dates to see some example games. None of the ones I've heard of have been particularly close to where I live, and so I have previously been forced to go purely Amazon, B&N, or Borders for any physical copies of books I'd want.

Bonus points if they're located in the southern half of the city and it's suburbs or near the Plaza district. Further bonus points if they are well-stocked outside of the D&D/d20, Magic, and collectible minis game type of lines, can find occasional older products that may be currently out of print, or are willing to do special orders.

I'm mostly focused on customer service first. I'm usually willing to pay a few extra bucks to a store willing to go the extra mile when it comes to good customer service.

EDIT: Tried to clarify that suburbs are OK with me.

I'm not sure of any in KC (especially near the Plaza), the one I go to is in Lee's Summit, and it has a Huge gaming area in the back. I think it has amazing customer service (I live in Parkville and I consider it my FLGS if that's any indication of what I think of the place.) The name of the place is Pulp Fiction comics and games, it's run by a guy named Andy.

Hey, I'm from KC but attending university elsewhere.

I unfortunately can't recall the name, but one of my players frequented a locally-owned game store in Independence. I only made it there once or twice, but it looked like quite the solid establishment. The owner really seemed to be making an effort to make the place appeal to more than the roleplaying/CCG niche, which I thought was very cool.

Aside from that, I'll echo what Folkher said--I don't know of any FLGS in KC itself.

Monte's Books in Independence, on the old highway (I forget which highway). Not the second location (there are two Monte's Books in the KC area). This place is a dimly lit, poorly located, store. . . but that has preserved its massive collection of rare, weird, and otherwise obscure RPGs for many years. Some friends and I used to make monthly excursions from Topeka to KC just for Monte's. The place is a true treasure trove.

I recommend Tabletop Games. It's in Overland Park at 103rd and Metcalf (actually, about 104th, one block east of Metcalf). It's in the same strip mall as Winstead's. While there are a couple other places in KC, I keep going back to Tabletop.

The owner and the whole staff are knowledgable and friendly. The owner has special ordered items for me on occasion. They have a game room, though I'm not sure how much roleplaying goes on there. Most of the time I see guys painting for miniature-based games.

Monte's is a trip down memory lane. I've only been there once, and a friend and I spent hours going through the shelves finding old modules, board games, rules - just about anything you can think of. I found a mint copy of the original D&D board game there, as well as a couple Strategy and Tactices magazines I wanted.

Hmm...Maybe I need to plan another trip this spring.

Good suggestions all, and keep 'em up.

By the way, I AM ok with looking at the suburbs, as I was fairly certain there weren't (m)any in KCMO proper.

I was in Monte's Monday looking for a a few books to plug holes in my collection. I actually found a copy of greyspace!

Lee's Summit is good enough for me. I didn't just mean KC proper; I was more talking the entire southern half of the city and surrounding suburbs. (I can't in good conscience say that a store 45 minutes away is a FLGS. It might be a FGS, but it isn't local enough for me.)

They have a website here

Back in 2001 or so, I found an original EPT box set there. Still in the original shrink wrap. Still priced at original retail. I regretfully did not buy it (I was flat broke on that trip). Still, the experience pretty much typified a trip to Monte's, for me. I was always able to locate a rare find of some kind, tucked away in a corner or resting at the bottom of a 5' tall tower of books. Monte's is like some kind of mystical RPG graveyard :D
