Any Protocol behind Monster Critical Hit bonuses?

Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback.

I think I'll stick to the following for assigning extra damage:

1) High Crit Weapons
2) Specific Magic Weapons/Artifacts

I have always thought the monster 'crits' needed a bit more oomph in them, especially at mid levels.

I decided that my custom monsters without special crit damage and without heavier hitting rechargables get 1D6 crit dice for each half tier {5 levels}.

This has given an extra bite to a monster crit without being too swingy or overpowering.
