Any purist class characters? (no multiclassing)

My campaign has a highly effective single-classed cleric that just hit 17th level. It also has a 15th lvl paladin. I think everyone else has either multi-classed or branched off into a prestige class.

In our campaigns, casters tend to single-class and meleers tend to multi-class. Personally, I find it hard to stay with a single class for the simple fact that prestige classes usually give more than they take. For instance, in a Greyhawk campaign I play in, I have a Cleric 6/Radiant Servant of Pelor 1. I'm giving up an average of one hit point per level, and in return I get Radiance (all spells with the "light" descriptor double in range), Extra Greater Turning (five time per day), martial weapon proficiency, a third domain, Positive Energy Burst, better healing powers, and on top of all that I still progress as a cleric with regards to saving throws, turn undead, and spell levels. Seem over the top to you? It does to me, but hey, the DM allowed it, so I'm running with it. I lose out on 13 hit points over the lifetime of my character. Big deal. Given the option of taking a prestige class, I can't justify not taking one that makes me a better cleric.

Well in the game I play in we have two "mono' classed charcters

A ranger of about 7th or 8th level and my 7th Level Sorcerer.

Excellent, I really like to see people sticking with the Ranger. :D

In my campaign, there are three (out of six): A Ranger 4, Wizard 5 (Channeler really, but equivical) and a Rogue 3.

There's also a Fighter 2 (but he's talking about joining the Druidic Order, so I'm not going to count him quite yet) and a PsiWarrior4 (who just joined an army, so will likely be multiclassing into our Soldier Class, so I'm not counting him either).

The first campaign I ran, we ended around 11th level. We had an Hafling Ranger11, a Half-Orc Cleric10 and a Dwarf Fighter10 (as well as a pacifist socially-oriented Half-Elf Rogue2/Bard7).
The various games I play in now involve a 9th level Monk, a 6th level Ranger and a 6th level Mechanician (a homebrew class), as well as a bunch of multi-class characters (Ftr/Rog/PsiWar, Ftr/Rog/Shd, Ftr/Wiz/AA, Rgr/Barb/Rog, Ftr/Wiz, etc...)

Of the five players in my campaign, four play "pure" character classes and one plays a rogue/sorcerer. I rather like it "pure" like that and so do all my players. Could be the 1e veteran coming out in us (when multiclassing or dual-classing was a pain in the ass), who knows? Then again, none of us play it to min-max either, which can be done easily by taking one level here, one level there....

IMC, I have 3 monoclasses (14 Druid, Seer and Psychic Warrior), a Bladesinger and a 13/2 Cleric/Divine Agent. The cleric would have been monoclass, but he was selected by his deity when he became 14th level and had 2 levels of cleric turned into Divine Agent levels...

I have 2 other players leave the game due to time constraints. They were both rogue multiclasses; Rogue/Sorcerer/Mindbender and Rogue/Paladin/Shadowdancer.

I play primarily in Living City, the FR campaign for the RPGA. In it, I can think of only 1 pure HL fighter (18th or 19th now) and 1 pure Barbarian (18th) out of a few hundred high level PC's. I've known a couple of pure clerics up to high levels, but once the FRCS was approved most clerics took Divine Disciple. At mid levels you find more (mostly monks, sometimes Paladins) but I'd say the overwhelming majority multi, or use PrC's.

In my local LC playing group (with multiple characters) there are no single classed PC's, unless they're 1st level. I'm talking around 15-20 PC's all multiclassed or with PrC's. We used to have 1 single classed 11th level monk, but he retired.

I have 4 PC's, all either multiclassed or planning towards a PrC.

The two biggest reasons I can see for all this multiclassing are skills and saving throw stacking.
