Hey all,
I'm creating a lawful good character in a new campaign, and I need some advice on interesting or useful ways to play or build him. I'm thinking of emphasizing fighting and divine magic. Any general suggestions?
I imagine him well like an exorcist of the church of the silver flame (it’s a PC from Eberron). He would be a follower of Kossuth who has a Neutral Clergy, and also a Lawful Neutral clergy. The adaptation is easy and why not to imagine a Lawful Good flame-sect who sees his flame as secretly good, not just neutral, and suited for purifying evil from the world.
Now, I’m hesitating to play between:
-> paladin 5
Pros: weapon and armor proficiency, smite evil, detect evil, divine grace, divine health, aura of courage, mount
Cons: poor turning undead, poor lay on hands
-> marshal* 2 / priest 3
Pros: skills, weapon and armor proficiency, minor aura, large choice of spells, 2 domains spells, turning undead
Cons: prepare spell
-> marshal* 2 / favored soul 3
Pros: skills, weapon and armor proficiency, minor aura, very good saves, spontaneous casting, turning undead
Cons: limited spell

-> or …
I don't try to become high-powered but I want a viable character who will survive. But don’t forget his church forms one minority and the campaign takes place in a war context. I especially try to create a character being in the service of the others and being able to defence him-self against the evil. The keywords are original and uncommon.
The character is able to use a bow (for the respect of the silver flame)
What is a good race? Human (very typical :\ ), half-elf, elf (
with a star elf, it’s optimization), dwarf (strange with a bow
), halfling, shifter… ?
Maybe some of your own opnions about this?
Thanks for your help.
