Any Update on Gary's Health ?

Don't worry, he's actually starting to poke around on-line, he probably has a lot of stuff to get done. We want him to get back to Castle Zagyg now, don't we? And to be in good shape for Gen Con, eh?! I'm sure he'll see this thread soon.

(It'll be the first time we've met face to face even thought we've known each other since 1993.)

He's okay, but the shingles cause severe pain which really tucker him out. He doesn't have the energy right now to be on line, but it's not as life-threatenlly bad as the stroke/heart attack combo. However, be warned we may not see him for a few months, as the pain gives him a severe headache, etc. He's actually a little bored that he can't be as creative or communicative.

Shingles sucks. My brother-in-law had a nasty case, and my mom (an ICU nurse) had a very mild one which was still very irritating. Is he using Valtrex?---it's a very effective anti-shingles medication at a 1g 3/day and 2g dosage to start, for 7 days, though its best if used within 72 hours of the breakout since it prevents the disease from advancing to being very painful. It usually takes 10 days to run its course, and can return (and eventually become permanent); definitely not something to mess around with at all.

I am actually planning to see him this Thursday, so I'll give everybody an update on his health when I get back.

John, please extend my sympathies to Gary, and let me know if there's anything I/we can do for him (letters, cards, books, etc.).

Got a message from the Colonel today through his mailing list. Puffiness around the left eye is going down, and the headaches aren't quite so bad. But he's still tired most of the time, and only up for going online for short periods. He's spending what time he can be online working on Troll Lord projects. He hopes to be back soon.
