Any Way to Get Away When Prone?

If someone is prone, is there any way to either get up or get away without provoking an AoO? Crawling provokes an AoO and so does standing up. The only way I know of is the use of the Tumble skill, but the DC is so ridiculously high that it's a no-go for most characters.

Should there be a way to disengage while prone?

I know someone who made it a move action to move from prone to kneeling, and a move action to move from kneeling to standing, neither of which provoke. It meant that, if you did nothing else in the round, you could stand without provoking.

Various PrCs (Thief Acrobat from CV, for instance) allow you to stand up without provoking.

The tumble skill doesn't prevents an AOO on a free stand, it just avoids the move action.

Teleportation magic is one way to do the trick. Casting Dimension Door on the defensive, for example, will get you out of the way without provoking an AOO.

I think he's referring to the RotG article that suggests someone can Tumble-while-crawling to avoid AoOs at DC20 to move five feet away as a move action, then stand as a move action in a non-threatened square.

I personally don't see any support for it in the Tumble skill, and even if I did, it would be DC 25 (or, rather, DC 15 with a -10 penalty), not DC 20.

I don't remember where... but there were suggestions on tumble being used to get up for free... and get up without AOOs. DCs were hard... for mid and low level. DC 25 or DC 30 required to get up without AOO.

EpicLH, tumble skill, free stand DC35.

The question is if the free stand (tumble DC35) or the successful use of Prone Attack just let you stand as a free action or negate the AoO, too.
As far as I know using a free action doesn't protect you from AoO.
I think it wouldn't hurt and we allow it in our group, but it's not RAW as far as I know.
