Any worthy LAN co-op games out there for the wife and I?

My wife and I are looking for some games we can play together. We've done Halo, Civ IV, & Neverwinter Nights co-op and are about to start on lego Star Wars, but we're looking for some other contenders. We have two new PC's and an Xbox 360 with two controllers.

I'd like to avoid shooters if we can (though something like Half-Life she'd enjoy, but it seems to have no co-op mode). I've been searching on the web for some webpages dedicated to LAN games, but there aren't many helpful ones. Anyone have any suggestions on what games we should try out? Thanks guys!

My wife and I played through Titan Quest together and had a lot of fun.

It's a bit old, but you should be able to track down copies of Myth : The Total Codex by Bungie (before they fell into Darkness in Redmond where the shadows lie). It's nominally a RTS, but it has terrific gameplay and a wonderfully deep and involving story. There is also no resource management. You are given your units and your mission and that's it.

Total Codex is actually a collection of the first two games in the series. There was a Myth III, but it wasn't done by Bungie and wasn't as good. I think it still looks amazingly good for a 6 yr old game.

You said you wanted to avoid shooters, but mention that Half-Life might be good. Is it that you're looking for more of a plot game to solve instead of a deathmatch game?

If you want something similar to Half-Life with co-op possibilities, you might want to look at System Shock 2, which was an FPS/RPG out a few years ago. There's a co-op patch readily available on the internet. It's a little wonky, but I know people who have gone through the entire game as a team. I've played around a little with it myself.

The game is extremely atmospheric (almost to the point of being nerve wracking), and has enough RPG elements to build a character so that each team member can specialize in a different thing (psionics, combat, and skills, IIRC).

The game is old, so you'll be wanting to search bargain bins or used stores. I used to see it regularly on the ten dollar racks at stores, but it might be a bit too old for that now.

I'm a big fan of Age of Mythology Co-op and it can be picked up dirt cheap now with expansion pack. And if you do end up with FPSs, perhaps try a tactical one like Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon (pretty much any Tom Clancy game that isn't Splinter Cell). I find those much more enjoyable, especially in co-op.

Some quick suggestions of games I've played through with my spouse for the Xbox:
* Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
* Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows
* Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
* Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
* Champions of Norrath: Call to Arms
* Hunter the Reckoning: Redeemer

All of those are third-person dungeon-type crawls, but those are the games we enjoy. Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the responses, she and I will look through the reviews and see which strikes our fancy. Anyone know of an adventure game that is LAN supported?

For the PC,

Any of the Blizzard games work very well on LAN. We have had great experience with starcraft and Warcraft 3 on LAN (usually us vs the computers).

Diablo and Diablo II is especially noteable here, because the game is built for multiplayers to better succeed.

And all these games should be dirt cheap now.

Neverwinter Nights 2 just went gold so look for it in stores in 2 weeks or so _late Oct.

if you liked NWN 1 the new one should be just as good but prettier.
I've lanned up with Guild Wars, but for some reason it recently got very laggy and I don't know why. The problem is that lots of data goes back to the main server in where-ever land. It isn't all bad all the time though, and faster machines may handle it better than my two yera old pc.

Good luck

Champions of Norrath:Call to Arms is on the ps2

Also there is a sequel Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms (nice thing on this one is you have a choice to be good or evil)

Some other co-ops are Fallout (xbox), Xmen (1&2-xbox), Combat Elite: WWII Paratroopers, and Justice League: Heroes.

Anyone know of other non-split screen co-ops?
