Very much looking forward to this book, partyl because I was one of the playtesters but also because it really is awesome!

As an aside even for those who don't fancy the idea of roleplaying in Ancient Egypt/Greece and that time period there are some REALLY good additions, ruleswise in this book that would contribute greatly to any D20 fantasy campaign.

Care to elaborate? Surely something of value can be found for use with Mulhorand, Unther and Chessenta in the FR

I have a 108 page document I'm nearly finished completing tentatively called "Ancient Adventures" that is precisely this topic.

Would there be room for two products on the same topic? No? I thought not.

Actually, it's 90% Ancient Greece, 10% Gauls and other peoples. Egypt gets grouped into "Libya" with a dash of Amazons, Gorgons, and Atlanteans.

If I can't find another route for it I may just go the self-publishing route, but the advent of this new game is disheartening -- but good for Mongoose for seeing a need that I thought hadn't been filled yet either.

i'll be interested in taking a look at this product, especially if there's not much overlap with Testament.

Well, there should be room. While the Mongoose book seems to be more definitive, being much larger, it's also probably much pricier.

Well, here's what I have so far:
* 11 races, including the Amazon, Autochthon, Centaur, Cyclops, Gorgon, Harpy, Minotaur, Myrmidon, Nymph, Satyr, and Spartus. Each race has its own racial progression as well (which are not taken from Savage Species, incidentally).
* 36 city-state backgrounds, similar to occupations for d20 Modern.
* 7 new primary classes to replace the d20 fantasy classes, including the Aoidos, Hoplite, Panmahaist, Hippeus, Oracle, Peltast, and Pharmakis. There's also tweaks to the Aristocrat, Barbarian, Druid, Expert, and Rogue classes.
* Rules on Allegiances and Areti (honor) and how it affects gameplay.
* 54 new feats, including fatal flaws. Still being expanded upon.
* 7 new prestige classes, including the Asclepiada, Amazon Archer, Cretan Archer, Homoioi, Lycaeon Zeus, Mastigophora, Rhodian Slinger, and Telchine. There's still a lot more I'd like to flesh out, at least one prestige class for each major deity.
* Lots of new equipment, monsters, and magic items. Haven't fully fleshed this out yet.

I suspect the 800 lb. Mongoose will make publishing the product less likely.

P.S. There is some inevitable overlap with Testament, but not much because Testament paints the setting with much broader strokes. It would be fully compatible with Testament, however.
