So, Mastodon is separated in servers? How does that work?
The social media is run on separate servers, but all servers that are federated share hashtags and you can follow anyone from any servers. It is decentralized, so a bunch of volunteers run the servers rather than a billion dollar company like Twitter.

If you need a server invite, here is the one I am on. Have had a really positive experience. Get on the #TTRPG and #DND hashtags to get involved with the gaming community! Also feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Not done much but setup an account and do a couple quick follows.

For those new to Mastodon, here's a good quick start/overview of the service: Your Guide to Mastodon: What Is It, and How Is It Different From Twitter?

Also, an article where someone spells out some of its pain points: I Want to Like Mastodon, but Mastodon Isn't Making It Easy

EDIT: Also, I highly recommend everyone follow @feditips@mstdn.social - Tips for users of the Fediverse, including how to avoid scammers and accounts antithetical to the goals of Mastodon.
