Anyone else looking forward to the new WoTC modules?

* Barrow of the Forgotten King - February
* Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave - March

* Expedition to Undermountain - June

Cheers!
The only one of those that appeals to me is Expedition to the Demonweb pits.

Still, Red Hand of Doom didn't appeal to me until I read the reviews, and then I bought it.

Just picked up Scourge of the Howling Horde and have given it a quick read. At first glance I like it. I'm a fan of WoTC's new Delve format and this sits particularly well with the target demographic for this module.

I also liked the references and side panels provided for things like terrain, initiative etc.

As for the other upcoming modules, I'll definitely be buying Slaughtergarde, Forgotten King and Demonweb Pits.

Oh, yes ... I'm a big fan of adventures, and I've been re-using 1E and B/XD&D adventures. Heck, look at the Savage Tide AP -- it revisits a classic XD&D and 1E adventure.

Rules come and go, but adventure ideas never go out of style.

I, too, am glad Wizards are back doing adventures, and am looking forward to a lot of the ones they have announced.

However, there appears to be a complete absence of high-level adventures. I find that disappointing.

Adventure books are used once and there goes my money. At least non-adventure books I always turn back to when I need info, suggestions, or to look something up.

You must be getting far more mileage out of your books than me. I have several which haven't been opened in months. Back in those days I was a completist and bought everything. I regret it now as these books sit collecting dust.

Give me more adventures rather than optional <censored> like Magic of Incarnum that I'll never use.

Heck yeah! I love modules and adventures. More modules = more playing time = more opportunities to use the source books collecting dust on my shelves. But...

I really need to find a group to play with first. I'm in the middle of an inter-state move, and I haven't been part of a regular game in nearly two years.

Anyone else down for these?
Absolutely, no question. In fact, adventures (and FR books) are the only things I buy from WotC nowadays.

Splats/rulebooks don't even rate a second look from me.

I keep hearing that often. That those books collect dust. Which makes no sense.

If more people took those same books down and scanned through, you can come up with adventure ideas of your own designing enemies, NPCs, background flavor, storyline, enriching your campaigns with more "life" and others. Heck, a lot of the material has helped me design my own adventure from a few feat combinations to a magic item to even one spell or artifact or new monster or template. An adventure is...well...just that. Something to level characters with. It doesn't really enhance the game in unique and different ways nor does it really bring life to a campaign world (unless it's a campaign specific adventure).

It really isn't that hard. I think the problem is people are swamped by real life so much that they are led to "believe" they can't come up with an adventure in time. Truth is, there's really nothing to it.

And these same people go and spend $20+ dollars for an adventure cause of the belief. I say, you guys are getting duped. Just my opinion on the matter, though.

Really? You don't reuse modules? Jeez, I use, reuse and use again lots of modules. Even if I don't reuse the whole thing, I certainly use the stat-blocks, special critters and the like. Maps see use all the time. Orlane has been a town in about four or five different campaigns over the years.

And I know that my WLD is going to get lots of reloving over the years.

I am completely opposite to Razz. Let's see, I've bought the Tome of Magic, Sandstorm and the 3.5 PHB for rule books. Plus a sub to Dragon. Nothing comes even remotely close to as useful to me as modules. 2 years with the WLD, followed by another year and a half for the Savage Tide AP means that I'm pretty solid for the next three years for gaming.

According to what you just stated, the modules would've never given you:

1) 3 new magic systems to enhance and enrich your campaign
2) Cool Dragon articles of all flavors
3) Never possessed anything remotely related to desert/fire gaming material

I can go on, of course.

And, no, I don't reuse modules. There's nothing left to them. The ONLY module I reuse is City of the Spider Queen, and that only gets opened to use the new monsters in the back (such as the Jade Spider, Orbwraith and Spiderstone Golem), and even still I have yet to open it since the 2 years that module ended.
