Anyone else not too fond of the new stat block setup?

Hmm... I don't much care fot the HP boxes to check off. Do people really write on their adventures? I would never do that, but maybe I'm weird :uhoh:

Same here. I wouldn't dream of writing in my books.

I used to have a player several years ago who would use typ-ex (correctional fluid) to go through and update his books with the errata! :\

What else is errata for if not correcting your books?

Much more convenient then having some print-out to search through every time you happen to remember that something has been errataed - and chances are you might not even remember. At the very least, you'd put post-it notes on the page with the clarified rule, right? Right? :p

Yes, but I wouldn't use the correctional fluid *IN* my books. Keep a copy of the errata with my books or character sheet, yes.

Just to get on topic - I have never been comfortable with any of the 3E stat block formats.

The dungeon delve format is attractive - but it is a lot of work to do for a home game (and those who know me, know I do enough already) - so I make do either doing them over in my own format. . .

OR (look away, Nikosandros and Dragonlancer ;)) - I highlight the portions of the stat block in the adventure (or wherever) that are most needed to be noticed in game play. . .

Copy the page, and write on the copy.

From my own experience, they're great to use but terrible to do. It's easy to remember all the special attacks, senses and spells of a creature when they're under specific places in the stat block, but preparing one of those for an NPC I'll be using in an adventure really needs a lot of patience.

They get easier as you do more of them. I find them a lot simpler to set up now; especially as I begin by copying a previous block I've made and then replacing text as I go through them.

The "HP boxes" only exist in Scourge of the Howling Horde, not in any other product so far.

I've been using them extensively for a year now, and they're much better than the previous, compressed, and confusing statblock.

Cheers!

Please Fix The Hit Dice In The New Stat Blocks!

PLEASE FIX THE HIT DICE IN THE NEW STAT BLOCKS!

I'm fine with hit points: 34 (Hit Dice 4d12 +8),
but not hit points: 34 (Hit Dice 4)

If I get hit points: 34 (Hit Dice 4) and I want to re-roll the hit points, I don't know what type dice to roll or what modifiers to use.

There are many errors in recent WOTC books because of this, errors that would be easy to catch if WOTC would just put (HitDice # die size + modifier) instead of using (HitDice #).
