Anyone ever stay at the Embassy Suites?

First Post
Just booked my room. I am at the embassy suites. Just wondering if it was a good joint.

Note to self, make reservations in Feb and cut Gencon costs in half.

Oh and how long is the registration line on Friday afternoon? Does anyone know if they fixed the nightmare that it was last year?

Aaron.

Embassy Suites rocks

First of all, the suites are pretty big and nice. We slept 7 in ours last year. And hosted a Convention Suite there.

Second - a very good free buffet breakfast (most of the local hotels don't offer this) ... and...

Free booze every night for two hours.

Embassy Suites is great. The suites are huge, and the free breakfast is excellent. When travelling, my husband and I always prefer a suite because not only do we have more room to spread out, but if I want to crash early then he can stay in the other room and read or watch TV. For GenCon, having a suite is cool because it gives you another place to game.

And did I mention the free breakfast? Fortify yourself for a long day of gaming!

They're fantastic. Ambercon, a yearly convention in Detroit devoted entirely to the Amber diceless RPG (and various spinoffs) is held at an Embassy Suites. After gaming for years at a convention where all of the convention games are held in private suites or boardrooms, trying to game in a huge room with a dozen tables was physically painful.

But, ahem. Yes, the hotels are quite nice. Make sure you nick some muffins or danishes from breakfast to snack on later. ;)

In my experience, reserving early is good to get your pick, but the good rooms are still expensive. ;)

Peter Adkison addressed this in his post-GenCon report last year, saying that it was the #1 problem of the con, and that it was going to be what they tried hardest to address for this year. Given that, it seems like a relatively safe bet that the lines won't be quite as bad this year.

I lived at the one at Laclede's Landing at St. Louis for two months.

The good news is that it's excellent if expensive (tankfully the company was paying the bills)

The bad news is that it was nicer than the appartment I was living in at the time and I had to go home.

Right on, this is gonna be totally suite... I did not get mine out of the Con block. The nearest open con blocks were like 11 miles away. Sha. Right.

Stayed at the Embassy Suites last year and will be again this year. As others have said this is a great hotel. 2 rooms for the price of one and the breakfast buffet can't be beat.
