Gnometown Hero
I don't think that's Goodman's aim here. The world already has Labyrinth Lord, Swords & Wizardry and Castles & Crusades, and he knows it. He wanted to create a game with a different vibe than the other stuff out there, other than, arguably, Lamentations of the Flame Princess.I think what a lot of people (myself included) are looking for in a retro clone is the simplicity of yesteryear's rules without the arbitrary and clunky mechanics and other design issues. To state it bluntly, DCC RPG seems to have fallen into the same trap as a lot of other clones, confusing nostalgia for good game design.
