D&D 5E (2014) Anyone granting max HP to PCs by default?

I ran a game that gave PCs max HP and it went from level 1 to 15. The characters had ridiculous pools of HP. To make challenging encounters, I had to seriously up the damage output of enemies.

It wasn't terrible, but I don't think I'll be doing that again.
