Anyone have any ideas on how to roleplay a relationship?

I want my PCs to have opposite-sex relationships so that I can kill off their girlfriends with my villian to make the campaign more "personal" to them

Hey and hello, fellow board members!

Like the title suggests, I need some ideas on how to (as realistic as possible) roleplay relationships in d20 Modern. I want my PCs to have opposite-sex relationships

My players and I are either all married or have girlfriends. The subject of having "relationships" in our d20 Modern game thus never comes up. We have real ones instead.
