Anyone have Dragon 134? :-)

I recently started a desert-oriented campaign and I've been looking for relevant monsters. So far the CC page has been quite helpful - I've bookmarked the Skriaxit, Jackal, and Hyena amongst others.

In doing some websearched I came across a reference to a "Sand Dragon" way back in Dragon 134, thus for 1st ed. Was this creature any good? (Anyone have a copy, in paper or as part of the Dragon mag collection?) My Dragon collection is all very old but ends at around issue 110.

Hi there! :)

As far as I know the Mega-Adventure "Necropolis" by Gary Gygax and someone called Scott Greene* has a large number sand/desert based monsters in it.

Thanks, but I looked at Necropolis yesterday at the FLGS, and have read some discussion of it, and I think I'm going to pass. If I could buy just the stuff I wanted from it that would be cool, but what I know of the plot and the style of the adventure wouldn't work with what I am planning myself.

(I didn't buy anybody else's monster book either, if that's any consolation. :-))

Well, I like the skriaxit(sp) and the dracosphinx - I got a bunch of others too. Vampire cactus, blood hawk (doesn't say desert, but I can easily see them circling in the sky above), jackalwere... the site is great, better for my purposes than any of the published monster books I've looked at.

Not a surprise that some 3rd ed Al-Qadim sites have some good conversions too.

Why though does the desert wraith have a jackal form? I already have stats for the jackalwere and it seems like duplication. Not to mention which if I used both my players would be routinely shooting any jackal they ever see. :)
