Anyone know what's up with the GSL?

I just downloaded it the new SRD. Gotta say (without rancor), that the new SRD is pretty much useless. I used the 3.0 and 3.5 SRDs as a nearly constant resource, but I don't see this one (which lacks anything resembling actual content) as something I'm ever going to use.

It's basically a table of contents, nothing more.

As it should/ve always been

The thing is the 3.0 and 3.5 SRDs weren't intended to be references for players...it was a reference for publishers. The new SRD is designed to prevent what happened last edition...a bunch of people who just printed out the SRD instead of buying the books.

Yes, if you look at it from a player or DM perspective. But it is actually a legal binding document for 3pp, as far as I understand the GSL.

It is useless for other means.

Be that as it may. That's what I used it for, and I did own all the books. I used the SRD as a resource when I was away from my bookshelf, which was often.

I understand the intent and as I said I'm not angry at WotC, just very disappointed.

Now, if they were to offer me a free PDF of the books that I purchased in print, that would make me happy again. :D I just need the content in digital format and am not willing (thus far) to gain it by the existing alternative means that are easily available at the moment.
