Just went to a show there last night, and discovered something rather surprising at the Southend Brewery & Smokehouse. Their menu has:
The grits are piled on one side of the plate. A roma tomato is cut in half, and laid in the grits (forming oval, red eyes). The mushroom cap is cut into strips, and laid at the edge of the grits (forming brown, somewhat rubbery tentacles). The tentacles are covered in a brown vinegar sauce.
Truly bizarre. I wish I had gotten a picture of it before devouring the creamy brains and tart tentacles. Anyways, if you have the opportunity, go there and order this thing. And take a picture. It was delicious in addition to making this gamer quite happy.
