Anyone seen the Troy trailer (merged)

I look at the original text of The Iliad, and I really hope the movie changes things. Don't get me wrong, I loved The Iliad, but a really true adaptation of the book just would not work well on film. It would be like a cross between Ben Hur and Bugs Bunny. (I'm working on a 10-year old memory of the book, though :) )

I don't think you need to worry about that. Somehow I doubt the funeral games of Patroclus and Achilles fighting a river (well, river god) are going to be key features of the production :D And much as I love the Iliad I sincerely hope I'm correct.

Well, I don't quite know how they're going to portray the battle between him and the river, considering that the supernatural is being played down...

Call me a goofball, but I for one am very encouraged that Wolfgang Peterson is directing this film. I've never seen a bad Peterson movie, even if only one of his films (Das Boot) is outright brilliant.

Air Force One is a great example. How much lamer a concept could you possibly think of? "The President goes Rambo on some terrorists!" It sounds like a parody, something you might have seen Dana Carvey do on SNL. Turns out not to have been that awful a movie. Any director that can take a crap premise like that and make something watchable around it gets kudos from me.
