Anyone use Mage Knight Minis?

I've noticed that a lot of folks are dumping their large collections of Mage Knight minis on ebay for cheap, and was wondering if any of y'all are using them for your D&D campaigns. I've picked up a few to bolster my small selection of female characters; I ended up rebasing them so that they'd be more similar in height to the WotC minis. Also, has anyone tried to create stats & features for some of the Mage Knight monsters for use in D&D? That's what I'm considering for a new naval adventure that will strand the party in a faraway country where things are *different*.

I've used some, and also put them on new bases. I have only been using ones that seemed close enough to D&D monsters, but you're right... it would be cool to stat up some of the more unusual ones as new critters as well.

I was using Mage Knight before the D&D minis came out. There are some great critters out there. They work pretty well though they are a bit more fragile and the paint jobs are tres lousy. The quickest way to trim them to "D&D size" is pop out the disk with the numbers on them and then use a pair of side cutters to cut off the flanges around the edge of the base. I then take a permanent black marker and blot out any text on the top of the base that I don't want.

A more "refined" way to do it is to remove the mini from the old base and epoxy it to a metal disk. Washers work. Nickels work too. Don't use super glue. It won't last.

Another nice recycling tip: Creepy Freaks. The miniatures themselves are often worthless for D&D but their bases are an ideal way to make a medium-sized mini occupy a large-sized space. They are exactly 2" square and have a hole in the middle that exactly fits a D&D mini medium base. The Creepy Freaks were a huge bust so you can get them cheap.
