The reason behind this thread is simple. I want to pick your brains for the cheesiest ways for pc's to kill a dragon, or the other way around.

Almost 20 years ago, an old AD+D game I was playing in. I think we were like 4-5th level. DM had a youg dragon asleep, in a courtyard of a castle, we hat to take it out. We knew it was there from scouting around, ect.. We very quietly all got onto the battlements, above it, it was still asleep when we let fly with missle attacks, spells, ect.. DM was a little annoyed that dragon did not even get in one shot.

Dragons in my campaign are a lot weaker than standard. Their rule: One dragon kills just about any man. 100 men kills just about any dragon.

In the north, dragons hide and play nice. In the south, they create massive keeps and wage a war of genocide. Mmm.

2E. True story. PC's entering ground level of a tower. Shimmering "curtain" across the ceiling. BIG Blue dragon sticks his head down through the curtain and breathes on the PC's in the doorway. First PC in the doorway wearing Neclace of Missiles - almost full - fails his save. The necklace fails its save. The dwarf next to him fails his save. The keg of smokepowder in his backpack (100 charges IIRC) fails its save. Dead dragon. Almost TPK. Oh, and the destruction of the tower was seen by our spelljammer crew aboard the Red October in low orbit. It was actually kinda fun to be involved in such a spectacular destruction. Of course MY character survived.
