AOO and Disarm

Can you attempt to disarm with an attack of opertunity?

Assume you are facing up to a monster that passes through your area of threat can you attempt to disarm them with your AOO and if it fails do they get an attempt to disarm you?

Would they have to stop their move to attempt the disarm or would they be able to continue their move and still get their disarm attempt?

Sure you can. Sure they get their attempt when you fail. And it does not disturb their own action or movement.

Re: Re: AOO and Disarm

And don't forget - unless you have the Improved Disarm feat, you provoke an AoO from them.

So the order goes:

He provokes an AoO for movement.
You attempt to Disarm (A), provoking an AoO.
He attacks as his AoO (B).
[Attack Roll for B]
After he resolves his AoO, resolve your Disarm.
[Opposed Attack Roll for A]
If your Disarm fails, he gets an immediate attempt to Counterdisarm (C).
[Opposed Attack Roll for C]
Then he finishes his move.

He finishes his move and with his attack tries to disarm you. Rinse, repeat, welcome to 3.5!
