I think we knew those last 2.
I was under the impression we were told an area effect is rolled individually against everyone in the area. That way a crit on an area effect doesn't kill the PCs in it.

He had the WotC employee shirt and everything. So if he's lying, then he's doing it intentionally on WotC's dime; I asked him what his job is at WotC, and he said "Teaching people D&D." This is what he was instructing newbies to do.

BTW, we ran the Escape from Sembia module from the D&D XP.

If he said all those things (based on all the informations we have had on 4E) :
-- That guy has some serious "house-rules" in that demo
-- It's pretty much impossible that a WotC employee would do what you described above, so I say his t-shirt might be only a promotional thingy.
-- Ppl like that shouldn't run demos for others.
-- Not even WotC knows what the final barbarian powers will be since he's still in development to be released next year.

The good vs Evil thing, the feat stuff and the rest pretty much sounds like misinformation (either willing or from extrapolation made from lack of info and biased preconceptions).

Considering that I am heartily pro-4e, I wouldn't intentionally spread disinformation. Especially information that would hurt people's opinions of 4e.

That's why I thought it was the demo guy running a line of BS on you.

1) He said you get feats pretty much every level.

I'm pretty sure it's been basically confirmed as every other level.

2) When area effects were executed, he rolled once for attack, and only rolled differently for damage.

That's how SWSE handles it, and when it was brought up in regards to 4e, they said it was different, so that you'd be rolling for each target in the area, since they can crit.

If he wasn't an employee, how'd he get his hands on all the Escape from Sembia D&D XP adventure material? Not just the monster stats that have been leaked here, but the rules for the skill challenges, the prepared text you read out loud, everything?

Lots of the people who run demos are volunteers, who were given the adventure/promotional material and no more.

I can promise you that a lot of what he's told you, he either woefully misunderstood or flat-out lied. I can't talk about what--I'm not authorized--but I can assure you of that much.

Well, when his information directly conflicts with statements by a known playtester and freelancer (Ari), as well as various blog posts and statements by developers, I don't care how he got the adventure material (could be a demo-running volunteer or something) or what shirt he was wearing. His information is wrong.

Well all WotC employees have proven to us they know better than to leak information on a class that's far from finished and scheduled only for next year (the barbarian).

As for how that guy go this hands on that stuff, who were running the demos at DnDXP? The RPGA guys? Maybe one of his buddies was there, or he was there himself.

He did say that WotC wasn't sending him all the playtest material et al. Just, the impression he gave from what he said, he was a WotC employee.

So apparently this guy is a real Character.

I trust Ari. It's just a little hard to process "bold faced lie to your face", you know?

Besides, I'm just reporting what I heard. Thankfully Ari was here on the spot to dispel it.
