Because it was talked about hugely, I'm pretty sure Sharknato made / is making a ton of money. At least enough to make Sharknato 2 The Second One.

Sharknato was talked about hugely on twitter and other social media but the ratings for it were not good.

Not to latch on to a minor point, but everything I heard or read suggested that the ratings were amazing (especially for a SyFy film).
