April and Beyond: Actually full of things most people will like!

:p
There are never enough dungeon tiles.

Do we even have Elemental Chaos dungeon tiles yet?

Well, there are some individual tiles you could use for EC/elemental-themed dungeon. ;) Speaking of Witchlight Fens, it's really nice that it's coming out just as my campaign is about to feature several sessions in a huge swamp... :)

The real interesting thing I think about the fiction line is the rebranding as Dungeons and Dragons first and whatever next. This goes for books that have been reprinted too. Branding at work.

Personally I didn't even read the flavor text on the monsters - because all the fiction in the world won't save a terribly thought out monsters mechanics. What got me immediately about the monsters in the preview was just how solid and interesting their mechanics looked. Then I looked at the supporting fluff to see what the general context was.

I love cards in the game, for the very simple reason that it makes it way easier for players to remember stuff. I use Weems condition cards so they know what's affecting them. I was working on a despair deck of my own, but stopped that the moment I heard this came out. I'll be picking it up as soon as it comes out.
If this was conditions cards or whatever, I'd be all over it. Organizational aides for 4e that work (ie: not the GF9 token sets) are awesome. But a "despair deck" or "fortune cards" I just have no use for. They aren't really needed to start with, and they aren't mechanically good enough to create a need. There's ways you could monkey with them to make them semi-useful, but I still don't see what need they fill.

Monster Vault: Threats to the Nentir Vale will make you a more attractive person. It will also innately assist you in getting a better job. Not sure how it works, but it just does. The game designers on this project really put some magic into their work. My recommendation, if we knew one of them, would be to have 'Hail to the Chief' played on a kazoo anytime they enter a room. For cereal.

MV2 is going to be an amazing product that I feel many people will love.

By "fiction" I did not mean descriptive text (aka fluff), that I fully support!

I meant the novel and the short story collection. Do not need that!

Why? I mean, if you're not into WotC's fiction line, that's cool. But a lot of us are. That preview got me excited for the short story collection from well-known authors who've never written D&D fic before! (except Salvatore, of course).

I'll chime in as also loving the Wandering Tower preview. My campaign involves various planar towers as a theme/ongoing quest... it'll be great to throw this fellow in as a red herring ^.^

Anyone else notice that the raven swarm doesn't have the usual swarm damage resistance/vulnerability pairing? Just the trait block with how it moves and such. Oversight or intentional?

I am so effing happy that they redesigned the Monster Manual organization so that related monsters are all lumped together and given a great story hook for being there.

This is what I'm looking for in an MM, by and large. Solid monsters, and a reason to use them. Even Hazards are included where appropriate. Yes! Yes! Yes!

This thing is a go.

You wouldn't happen to have been a writer on it would you? Because if so, I do believe you might need a kazoo boy sometime soon.

Unless epic gets screwed again. Then no Kazoo for anyone.
