Arcana Unearthed Discussion in d20 System forum?

First Post
I just noticed that according to the description of the d20 System and OGL games forum, Arcana Unearthed discussion should go there, not the General RPG Discussion. From a technical point of view, this may be valid (AU is an OGL stand-alone product) but isn't it viewed by most gamers as a d20/D&D product? I mean, certianly it is much closer than games like M&M, Star Wars, Spycraft, etc.

Certainly, a lot of AU discussion is going on in Gen Discussion right now.

Yeah, we only decided that yesterday. We figured that D20/OGL is a more appropriate forum than General RPG - Wheel of Time is in that forum, for example (the fantasy theme isn't the deciding criteria, just the fact that it's a D20 or OGL game which is not D&D).

But is Arcana Unearthed 'not D&D'?

I suppose the Wheel of Time analogy should mean that if WoT is in the d20 System forum, so should AU. I don't have AU (yet ;)), but it sure sounds like D&D to me.

Also, Monte descibes AU as an 'alternate Player's Handbook', not an 'alternate RPG', which Wheel of Time is.

I agree that while technically that AU should probably go in d20/OGL games that its spirit seems to fit general RPG and DnD rules better than pretty much any other non DnD game.

If you have questions on running a campaign, campaign ideas, integrating AU classes with D&D classes, comparing AU to D&D and the like, those would be general. Things like questions on how the Magister's staff works should go in the D20 system games forum.

Not to get picky or complain or anything (I don't have AU so I don't care so much at this point) but I think that's going to be really difficult to regulate. A thread could easily start as an AU-only thread and veer into AU/D&D, and vice-versa. Also, I think a lot of posters will be confused by that rule, or simply won't know it.

Just my opinion.

Hmm. I think we'll need to discuss this; AU is OGL compliant, NOT d20 compliant. Wacky. It's a "variant player's handbook" (and a good one!), but NOT of D&D. D&D is not mentioned anywhere in the book.

But I agree that whatever we decide, we'll need to pick a forum and stick with it. Multiple forums make more work for us moderators! :D

Midnight is in a similar situation, isn't it?

If it is i'd think it'd go were ever AU goes. For my two cents i would think that'd be General discussion. Wether or not esplicetedly stated in the books it seems pretty obvious they're both D&D books.
