Arcana Unearthed or 3.5 PH???

I don't know why, Merric (maybe watching all those threads over on Dragonsfoot), but when I read this phrase from you, I got the giggles! :D

AU. I already have D&D, and can patch things up with the SRD (and I like most of the changes), but AU is a something new. I'll buy D&D 3.5 eventually, but AU is higher on my list.

Probably AU first, then I'll pick up the 3.5 books as I need/want them. Like most have already said, the fact that all the major changes will be available online via the SRD is quite handy.

Cheers!

I had this same problem with Everquest. I mean a lot of people are talking about AU like it's the first book of it's type but Everquest has a DMG, MM and PHB of its own and it's all supposed to be 100% compabitle with it's own magic system and whatnot.

I agree. D&D is elves and dwarves not leonine creatures. I'll stick to D&D 3.17

P.S. now that ENHenery mentions it, you sound a bit like Ska. :)

3.5e.

After reading Monte Cook's review of WOTC's buisiness practices... er, I mean Monte Cook's review of 3.5e, I'd much rather have my money go there than AU.

$30 for a rehash of old material which I own, or $30 for all new Monte Cook material? Hmm.. I have to think about this for a while, like 3.5 seconds ;)

AU of course!

I think Merric hit it right on the head, if you want a book to play with your current campaign, 3.5. AU would be if you're starting something new, of course if you're looking to add a little swashbuckling style to your campaign....

[Hijack] May I humbly suggest Pirates! instead? It's 3.5 compatible, and according to gamewyrd "... may have the sexiest front cover ever..." so with any luck it will generate some controversy! Seriously, the front cover is by Clyde Caldwell, and I believe the model is his wife, but there is content that relates to the cover directly... This book has the added benefit of costing less than AU... and um... well... [/hijack]

Again if you're on a budget, best to buy the book you're more likely to use right now, instead of just look at, whichever book that might be...

Thoughts. . .well, which one do you need more? Personally, I won't be picking up AU. I have no interest in it. But I also won't be picking up the 3.5 PH until I need to replace my 3.0 book, and it isn't showing many signs of wearing out yet. Hmmm, guess I'm not much help. :)
