Only when MT = 0. Otherwise, the MT is stronger than the Clr/Wiz.

Ehm. Yes. at MT=0 they are the same. obviously.

However, as they progress, the Clr/Wiz gets some extra's (metamagic feats, for instance, and better turn undead) while all the MT gets is extra spells.

So, how do the following compare? (skipped the uneven ones)

Clr3/Wiz3/MT2 vs Clr4/Wiz4 vs Clr8 vs Wiz8
Clr3/Wiz3/MT4 vs Clr5/Wiz5 vs Clr10 vs Wiz10
Clr3/Wiz3/MT6 vs Clr6/Wiz6 vs Clr12 vs Wiz12
Clr3/Wiz3/MT8 vs Clr7/Wiz7 vs Clr14 vs Wiz14
Clr3/Wiz3/MT10 vs Clr8/Wiz8 vs Clr16 vs Wiz16

Yes, but once you go above 10 levels MT, as I have tried to calculate in my post, the MT appears to go through the roof. I say appear, because I am not sure. The reason is that Wiz / Cleric spell casting progression stops at level 20, and that you can get par caster level with the practiced spell caster feats. This assumes ( I am no expert on epic rules) that you can still progress on caster level once your total character level is greater 20, as long as your spellcaster level is not 20. Correct?

D00d. The whole point that they made the MT class in the first place, is because people realised that clr/wiz is an utterly gimped combo.

Nonono! You're ignoring the wonderful rush of suckage owning the familiar of a 10th level wizard, combined with the the power to turn undead as a 10th level cleric, all at the low, low character level of 20! Sure, you've given up 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level spells, but I think you're missing the exhiliration! You can cast both arcane and divine 5th level spells as a 14th level spellcaster (assuming you take practiced spellcaster twice), and never have to worry about penetrating Spell Resistance!! Think of the misnomers, insults and catcalling, the other players can heap upon you!

Yup.

You. Must. Be. Joking.

A Cleric or Wizard's spells are the most powerful class features in the game. Bar none. And I suspect you agree, or you wouldn't be trying to get more of them -- you'd be trying to get more feats or better undead turning. :) Am I right?

IMHO, 4 levels of Thaumaturgist (advancing Wizard spellcasting) is an excellent "capstone" to a Mystic Theurge build. It's flavorful and benefits both your classes, and the 5th level is a bit of a waste anyway.
