Arcane Prestige class needed.

Problem with your build?!

Does Rainbow Servant grant Cleric spells as divine spells? As far as I remember (but I'm AFB), you gain access to Cleric spells, but you don't cast them as divine spells. Prestige Paladin requires you to be able to cast Protection from Evil as a divine spell, and it only progresses divine spellcasting.

The text of the RS capstone is the following:

Complete Divine said:
Cleric Spell Access: A 10th-level rainbow servant can learn and cast spells from the cleric list, even if they don’t appear on the lists of any spellcasting class he has. Such spells are cast as divine spells if they don’t appear on the sorcerer/wizard or bard spell lists.

While the RS does let you cast divine spells and thus lets you advance casting with it, it doesn't let you fulfill the protection from evil requirement because that spell is on the sorcerer/wizard list and is thus cast as arcane.

However, if he takes Alternative Source Spell, Southern Magician, or similar, he can cast it as a divine spell and meet the requirement just fine.

RS can be entered after 1st level with a combination of Sanctum Spell and a dip in a Dragonsblood Pool. Its pretty old CharOp tech. It actually grants the ability to cast up to what are effectively 4th level spells. I'm sure you could google it for more details.

This clears things up. Ironic that the RS capstone allows the PC in question to cast PfE as an arcane spell only - seeing how the PC didn't have the spell on his list beforehand...

If you are considering Sacred Exorcist, you might also want to check out the Silver Pyromancer from Eberron: Five Nations. You loose a caster level, but get to use your (arcane) caster level as your effective cleric level for turn undead. also, it damages undead instead of turning them, and adds the paladin spell list to your arcane caster spell list.

Except... Not quite. Paladins, unlike clerics, are not exempt from the stringent alignment requirement.

Sorry, using a font of evil to fuel your spell cssting progression so you can become the pinnacle of holy justice doesnt jive. Even the malconvoker has extremely stringent regulations on which evil spells you may cast. Neither the pr paladin nor the dread necro have any such loopholes.

And this is all moot anyway. It states clear as day you cannot be a dread necromancer and have a good alignment. There are no ex dread necris because you cannot have a good dread necro.

Why do you care so badly? The OP presented an idea, you expressed your disapproval, he acknowledged it and disregarded it, and now here you stand, stamping your foot and claiming that what he is doing is wrongbadevil. Chill out. If things in his universe work that way, then who are you to judge him?

He claimed the character is optimized. Its not. If he tells the dm its a character that abides by raw hes lying.

I'm still wondering how the 1st level character is able to qualify for a prestige class that requires being able to cast 3rd level spells.
