Arcane Reach and threatening - possible exploit?

The high arcana ability arcane reach of the Archmage prestige class allows a wizard to use touch spells at a range of 30'.

Does this count as threatening the area for the purposes of AoOs? One could interprete it this way as the arcane reach ability gives reach to the wiazrds touch-spell-attacks.

Normally this wouldn't matter much, but if it wasn't for the epic feat 'spell opportunity', which allows a wizard to cast and use a touch spell as AoO.

Now imagine an epic wizard with epic spellcasting, automatic quickened spells (up to 9th level), the multispell feat taken twice, spell upportunity and a dex-boosting item.
Assuming he wins initiative, he can cast one epic spell and three auto-quickened spells of 9th level. As his enemies are probably within 30' he can use his AoO to deliver up to <dex-bonus> epic or high level touch spells. The possibilities are frightening.

Lesse.. requires epic feats to be considdered broken?

Yeah, sure.. why not. Arcane Reach AOO your heart out.

Nope.

Ranged attacks don't threaten. This is a ranged attack - even if it is rolled the same a melee touch rather than ranged touch.

Exactly. This mage is epic. He's supposed to be really, really good. Certainly he's more powerful than most... but not overly so.

I guess I should add that this oddball melee/ranged combo means that he does threaten the spaces he can actually reach - normally 5'.
